The Livestock Farm Complex located in the college is established in an area of about 10 acres for housing different species of livestock and for fodder production. It consists of a cattle barn, calving box cum calf pens, sheep and goat pens, pig sty, kennel and small animal facility for housing laboratory animals and an amphitheatre for conducting practical on handling of various animal species. In addition three poultry sheds including one high rise cage layer house are also constructed for instructional purpose.
The biogas plant and solar water heaters are commissioned in the Farm Complex with the help of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).
Aviary-cum-fish pond which has four different varieties of fresh water commercial fishes along with ducks and geese.

Livestock owners are also being brought regularly from villages to expose them to Scientific Management. Schools also send students to visit the Livestock Farm. This farm is open to all who wish to acquire knowledge and skill in rearing Livestock on scientific lines.

Farm Advisory Committee
A Farm Advisory Committee has been constituted to look into the activities of the Livestock Farm Complex.
II. DIFFERENT UNITS UNDER LIVESTOCK FARM COMPLEX
1. CATTLE AND BUFFALO PRODUCTION UNIT
Started with six adult crossbred (Jersey) milch cows along with their calves and one adult buffalo with a calf. One adult female native cattle (Umblacherry) with calf was added. Fresh cow milk is being sold to hostels.
2. FODDER PRODUCTION UNIT
Fodder field with Hybrid Napier – variety CO-5 is being maintained for meeting the fodder requirements of the animals maintained in the Livestock Farm Complex (4 acres). In addition, a Fodder Production Scheme for the distribution of green fodder to the needy dairy farmers of Puducherry has been started.
3. GOAT AND SHEEP PRODUCTION UNIT
Indigenous goats (17) of Malabari breed are being maintained for demonstration purpose. In addition, five indigenous sheep (four Madras Red and one Ramnad White) are also present
4. PIG PRODUCTION UNIT
Started with four female and two male Large White Yorkshire piglets as foundation breeding stock. Piglets of 2 months of age are being sold for Rs. 2,500 per piglet to needy farmers
5. INDIGENOUS DOG BREEDING UNIT
This unit is having two female Mudhol Hound dogs, registered with the Kennel Club of India. The hounds have been awarded with two Best of Breed and Reserve Best of Breed awards, two Challenge certificates and two Reserve Challenge certificates and one Runner up award among All Hounds Group in the First and Second Championship Dog show conducted by the Puducherry Canine Club in 2018 and in 2019
6. RABBIT BREEDING UNIT
A small rabbit breeding unit has been established in the farm complex with crossbred rabbits mainly for demonstration to the students
7. FRESH WATER FISH PRODUCTION UNIT
The existing fish-cum-aviary pond has been renovated and fish fingerlings of the following varieties of Indian Major Carps have been introduced – Catla, Rohu, Mrigal, Grass Carp and Silver carp. The first batch of fresh water fishes was harvested (175 kg) and sold @ Rs. 90 per kg live weight
In addition, water fowl like Geese, Muscovy ducks and Native ducks have been introduced into the fresh water pond.
8. TURKEY PRODUCTION UNIT
A flock of turkey (Broad breasted Large White) – 10 numbers have been procured and introduced into the renovated semi-intensive area. Later, Broad breasted Bronze was added. Eggs are hatched and turkey poults are being sold (@ Rs. 60 per poult)
9. BROILER CHICKEN PRODUCTION UNIT
A flock (200 per batch) of broiler chicken (a new variety – Raja- II, procured from Bangalore) is being reared in succession, slaughtered and the meat sold through the sales counter
10. JAPANESE QUAIL PRODUCTION UNIT
Successive batches of Japanese Quails are being reared and adult birds are sold under the Student Entrepreneurship programme
11. KADAKNATH BREEDING UNIT
An indigenous poultry breeding unit has been started with Kadaknath breed. Chicks are being sold to needy farmers : Rs 60 per day old chick
12. COUNTRY CHICKEN BREEDING UNIT
A country chicken (indigenous) breeding unit has been started with 200 day old chicks procured from the College of Veterinary Science, Hebbal, Bangalore
13. VALUE ADDED ORGANIC MANURE PRODUCTION UNIT
Vermi-compost unit and Panchagavya unit have been started to manufacture value added products (organic manure) from livestock / farm wastes. An organic compost unit is also under operation.
III. CENTRALLY SPONSORED SCHEME ON POULTRY FARMING
A unit funded by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, GOI, is under operation. Parent stock unit of Giriraja birds is being maintained and day old chicks are being hatched and sold to Government of Puducherry, farmers and entrepreneurs in and around Puducherry. In addition, training is being imparted to poultry farmers on the rearing of dual purpose birds under backyard system
